Things You'll Need
Instructions
Move the router off the floor and closer to the PlayStation 3. Metal objects, such as the studs in walls, can weaken your signal, so put the router in the center of a room if possible.
Update the firmware on your router. Router manufacturers will often release updates for routers that can fine-tune the router to increase your WiFi strength.
Place a wireless repeater between the wireless router and the console if it is a long distance. Repeaters act as wireless routers by re-energizing the WiFi signal. If you cannot afford a repeater, try making a rectangle out of aluminum foil and placing it where you would put a repeater. Aluminum can act as a makeshift wireless repeater without the cost.
Purchase a "high-gain" antenna for your wireless router. "High-gain" antennas are much stronger than normal antennas and can significantly increase the strength of any WiFi signal. You can augment most routers with a "high-gain" antenna, but check your product manual before purchasing one.
Move your PlayStation 3 into an open area. If your console is concealed in an entertainment system, it can block the reception of the wireless signal. Placing it in the open can reduce interference and increase signal strength.
