If you want to recover your Sony PlayStation 3 hard drive, you can use a feature built into the system's software. This feature erases all data on your hard drive (through a process called "formatting") and returns your entire console, including the hard drive, to its original settings. This may be necessary if the console has developed errors that are interfering with your ability to play games or content the way you want to.
