How to Troubleshoot the Linksys Internet Wireless-G Game Adapter for PS3

The Linksys Wireless-G Game Adapter is a wireless adapter that allows you to connect the wired Ethernet connection from your video game console to a wireless router in another room. If you are having problems with the wireless connection with your PlayStation 3, you can troubleshoot the console and game adapter to fix the issue.

Instructions

    • 1

Check that the Ethernet cable is securely inserted into the back of your PS3 and to the game adapter. Ethernet cables have a connector that should click into place.

    • 2

Check that the SSID that the game adapter is connecting to matches the SSID of your wireless router. The SSID is the network name that the wireless router will broadcast to allow other devices to connect to it.

    • 3

Check that "Infrastructure" is selected in the setup menu for the game adapter. To access the setup menu for the game adapter, enter "192.168.1.250" into the address field of your Web browser.

    • 4

Enter the correct WEP key in the setup menu for the game adapter if your wireless router is password-protected.

    • 5

Power cycle your connection if the game adapter is not connecting. Turn off the game adapter, router, modem and any devices connected, then turn on the modem, router and game adapter to ensure they connect to each other.

    • 6

Properly set up the Internet connection on your PS3. Select "Network Settings" from the "Settings" tab on the PS3 and choose "Internet Connection." Select "Easy" and "Wireless" and scan for your wireless network. Enter the security key if your router is password-protected and save the settings.

    • 7

Turn off the other devices on your network if you are getting a slow connection. If you have too many devices connected at once or are downloading large files on a computer, your PS3 will lag or be unable to connect.
