How to Use a PC Keyboard for a PlayStation 3

The PlayStation 3 (PS3) is a video game console manufactured by Sony Computers. Beyond video game play, the system also serves as a standard DVD and Blu Ray disc player, and a high speed Internet browser. Although users can type using a regular PS3 remote control, connecting a standard USB or Bluetooth keyboard to your system makes typing much quicker.

  Connect a standard PC USB keyboard into any open USB slot on the PS3. Wait a few seconds for the PS3 to automatically detect the USB keyboard. Your USB keyboard is now configured for use with the PS3.

  Go to "Settings" on the PS3 home screen then "Accessory Settings" then select "Manage Bluetooth Devices" to connect a Bluetooth PC keyboard to your console. Turn on your Bluetooth keyboard and then choose "Register New Device" from the PS3 menu. Click "Yes" and then choose "Start Scanning." Select your PC keyboard from the device list when it shows up. Your Bluetooth keyboard is now configured for use with the PS3.

  Type using the connected keyboard whenever the PS3 text entry screen pops up.
