Instructions

    • 1

Unplug your PS3 from the wall outlet and pull off the plastic HDD shield. It is labeled "HDD." It simply pops right off.

    • 2

Remove the blue screw with the screwdriver. This screw holds the hard drive into place. Slide the hard drive out of the PS3. It will still have the metal shield on it.

    • 3

Remove the two remaining screws on the hard drive with the screwdriver. The hard drive will slide out of the shield after these screws are removed.

    • 4

Insert the new hard drive into the shield and tighten the two screws you removed in Step 3. Insert the hard drive into the PS3 and tighten the blue screw from Step 2.

    • 5

Place the plastic "HDD" cover onto the hard drive slot and push it into place. Plug the PS3 back into the wall outlet and plug it into a monitor. Turn the PS3 on and the hard drive will be formatted using the PS3's formatting tools. Select "Yes" to finish the formatting. You now have upgraded the PS3 hard drive.
