How to Install a Microphone in Guitar Hero: World Tour for PS3

"Guitar Hero: World Tour" was the first entry in the "Guitar Hero" series of video games that allowed users to play more instruments than just a guitar. "World Tour" added support for a drum set (including cymbals and a kick pedal) as well as a microphone for vocal performances. Connecting a microphone to "Guitar Hero: World Tour" for your PlayStation 3 involves interfacing the mic with your console.

  Determine where you'll be standing while you play "Guitar Hero: World Tour" for the PlayStation 3. This is important to know ahead of time because there are two different ways to install the microphone for the game. The first is to plug the mic directly into the console, which requires you to stay within a certain distance from the PS3. The second is to plug the mic directly into the wireless guitar, which requires you to stay within a certain distance of the guitar but allows you to move farther away from your PlayStation 3.

  Plug the "Guitar Hero: World Tour" microphone's USB cable into one of the two USB ports on the front of your Sony PlayStation 3. The microphone will now be available to use in the game.
