How to Play Videos on the PS3 From a Memory Stick

The Playstation 3 (PS3) allows you to play media files -- videos, music and photos -- directly off USB flash drives, also referred to as memory sticks. Although most flash drives will work with the PS3, any flash drive that requires its own proprietary drivers or software may not work properly with the PS3. The PS3 supports MP4, MPEG, DIVX, AVI and WMV video formats.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect the flash drive to either USB port on the PS3.

    • 2

Scroll to the "Videos" icon on the PS3 main menu (XMB bar).

    • 3

Press the "Triangle" button to get a thumbnail list of all available videos on flash drive. Select the video you want to play and press the "X" button to begin playback.
