How to Reset a PlayStation 3 to RCA Wires

As of 2010, the PlayStation 3 is the newest family member of the Sony Computer Entertainment Division's PlayStation brand. Introduced in 2006, the system boasts impressive graphics, online game playing capability and the ability to watch Blu-ray discs. The system features two display types: typical RCA style connections and HDMI. These display types operate independently from one another, so after using one the system must be reset to switch to the other.

  Power down the PlayStation 3 by pressing the power button on the console. Disconnect the power cable and any audio and video cables connected. Allow the system to sit without power for approximately 30 seconds.

  Connect the AC power adapter. Connect the RCA jack plug to the specified port on the back of the PlayStation 3. Connect the fiber optic audio cable if used. Do not connect an HDMI cable into the HDMI port.

  Ensure the switch on the back of the PlayStation 3 is switched to "On." Press and hold the power button on the console for five seconds. Listen for a chime from the PlayStation. Wait for the PlayStation 3 system to reset. Follow the on-screen instructions to customize the video output for your system.
