How to Convert a USB So That It Is Compatible With the Playstation 3

The Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3) will do more than play high-definition video games, or play DVDs and Blu-rays. It will also play digital files off a USB flash drive. The USB flash drive does not need any conversion to run on the PS3. In order to properly play a file, the USB flash drive must have the file stored onto it. Once the file is stored on the USB flash drive, the PlayStation 3 will find the file, allowing you to play it on the TV that the PS3 is connected to.

Instructions

    • 1

Copy music, video and image files to your USB flash drive using a computer.

    • 2

Insert the USB flash drive into one of the PlayStation 3's USB ports.

    • 3

Turn the PS3 on. When the XMB, the PlayStation 3's main menu, boots up, move left or right to the appropriate category. For instance, if you want to view a video file, go to the "Video" category. Move up or down until you have highlighted "USB device." Press "triangle" on the remote. Press "X" on "Display All."

    • 4

Locate the file you want to play. Click "X" on the file and it will begin to play.
