How to Play MP4 Videos on the PS3

The PS3 is primarily designed for gaming, but you can also use the PS3 to play digital video such as MP4 files. To do so, you first need to transfer the media onto a USB flash drive and plug it into the PS3 where the media can stream.

  Plug a USB flash drive into the USB port of your computer. Wait until your system recognizes the attached device and upload all of the MP4 videos to the connected drive. Eject the device once the media has fully transferred over.

  Turn on the PS3. Plug the USB flash drive into the USB port of the game console.

  Go to the "Videos" section on the home screen of the PS3. The connected USB flash drive will display. Select the listing for the device and press the triangle button on the controller.

  Click the "X" button to display the contents of the connected USB flash drive. Select an MP4 video and it will begin to play from the PS3.
