Place the PlayStation 3 next to the television set. Plug the PS3's power cord into a wall outlet.
Insert the plug of the proprietary A/V (audio/video) connection cable that is included with the PS3 into the connection socket on the game console's back edge. The plug must line up with the grooves in the socket or it cannot be plugged in.
Insert the RCA plug at one end of a composite video cable into the composite video port at the end of the proprietary A/V cable. Insert the RCA plug at the other end of the composite cable into a video input on the back or side of the TV.
Insert the red and white RCA plugs at one end of an audio cable into the red and white RCA ports at the end of the proprietary A/V cable. Insert the red and white RCA plugs at the other end of the audio cable into the red and white RCA audio inputs on the back or side of the TV.
Turn the TV on with its remote. Press "Menu." Select the "Video input" settings from the list of choices. Select the video input that the composite cable is plugged into. Press "Menu" to exit the settings.
