My Wireless Remote for My PS3 Doesn't Work

All wireless peripherals for the Playstation 3 (PS3) must be paired (or synced) to the PS3 before they become operational. The wireless remote (either the Blu-ray or Sixaxis Dual Shock 3) may occasionally de-sync or not function as it should. There are some general troubleshooting measures you can take that will solve most issues, provided the wireless remote is not broken.

Instructions

    • 1

Pair the wireless remote with the PS3 again. Restart the PS3, but do not activate any remotes. If you're using the Blu-ray remote, press the "PS" button. The lights will flash and stabilize after a few seconds, indicating the sync was successful. If you're using the Sixaxis or Dual Shock 3, connect the USB cable to the remote and press the "PS" button. The lights will flash and stabilize after a few seconds, indicating the sync was successful.

Verify that the wireless remote is charged and powered. A full charge when connected via USB will take approximately two hours. If you're using the Blu-ray remote, try two new AA batteries.

Test the wireless remote on another PS3 if possible. If the remote works properly on another PS3 system and not yours, there may be a syncing issue with your PS3. If that is the case, contact PlayStation customer service at 800-345-7669.
