Why Isn't Netflix Working on My PS3?

DVD rental firm Netflix offers a video streaming service on several devices, including Sony's PlayStation 3. To use the application, you'll need a Netflix account and a Netflix Blu-ray disc that enables instant streaming. If this is present and the application still isn't working, there are a number of potential causes.

Lack of Internet Connectivity
- If the PS3 is unable to connect to the Internet, or the Internet connection is currently down, the Netflix program will be unable to work. Test other online functions of the PS3 and try accessing the Internet using a Web browser to see if this is the problem. A broadband connection of at least 700 kilobits-per-second is advisable for streaming content.
Unavailable Titles
- Not all of the movie and TV titles offered by Netflix are available to stream instantly to a PS3 device. In addition, the service is currently only available for customers who are resident in the USA.
PlayStation Network
- The Netflix application won't run if the PS3 isn't signed into the PlayStation Network -- this means it will be unavailable if you haven't signed up or aren't logged in, or if the PlayStation Network (or the Netflix system) is down for maintenance.
