How to Record a PS3 Montage

Video game console systems continue to grow in complexity and graphical capability. One of the other ways consoles have evolved has been to include more and more connection options for easy integration into your home entertainment system. Other consumer electronic devices like TVs, home entertainment speaker systems and home computers have similarly evolved to include more and more connection options, making it quite simple to connect a video game console like the PS3 to your home computer in order to record video and audio from the PS3 onto a software program.

Instructions

    • 1

Examine your computer to see what connection options are available for you to use. The PS3 has HDMI and RCA output connections, so if your computer features either of these, you can use them to connect your PS3 to your computer.

    • 2

Connect either the HDMI cable or RCA cables from the output ports on the PS3 to the corresponding input connection on the computer.

    • 3

Download and install a video recording program such as iMovie, Debut Video Recording or Camtasia Studio (see Resources).

    • 4

Power on the PS3 and insert a game disc.

    • 5

Open the software you installed and begin recording per the manufacturer's instructions.

    • 6

Edit all the clips you record into a "montage" using the editing interface of the recording program you use. This will, of course, vary depending on what type of recording and editing software you use, so consult the program's documentation for help with the editing interface.
