How to Use the Guitar Hero Guitar on Rock Band for the PS3

At first glance, both "Guitar Hero" and "Rock Band" are extremely similar. Both feature guitar controllers and both are band-based games. However, "Guitar Hero" is published by Activision and "Rock Band" is published by Electronic Arts. Therefore, the "Guitar Hero" guitar may not necessarily work when playing "Rock Band." Many consumers expressed a clear desire to have the games be compatible, so the two companies began to work out cross-controller compatibility.

  Check the cross-controller compatibility between the model of the "Guitar Hero" guitar, the PlayStation 3 game, and the "Rock Band" version. The "Rock Band" website offers a compatibility chart. Some "Guitar Hero" guitars will not work.

  Turn on the PS3, insert the "Rock Band" game and also plug the "Guitar Hero" guitar controller into the USB port on the PS3.

  Start the "Rock Band" game and you should be able to play normally with the "Guitar Hero" guitar, for the game will recognize it.
