Tutorial for PES 2009

"Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) 9" is a soccer game manufactured by the Japanese gaming company Konami. As one of the best-selling and most-popular soccer games on the market, PES provides users with a plethora of different realistic soccer moves, actions and skills. If you own a PlayStation 2/3, Xbox, Nintendo Wii or PC you should learn a number of different maneuvers and combinations before you attempt to perfect the game.

Instructions

  1. PS3 / PS2 / PSP

    • 1

Control the direction your player runs in using the left analog stick. Hold it to the left, your player will move to the left; right, your player moves to the right; and so on.

    • 2

Pass the ball with the "X" button, cross the ball using the "O" button, play a through-pass using the """ button and shoot for goal using the square button. There is a power bar on the shot and cross, so be careful how long you hold the button in for when carrying out that action.

    • 3

Make a standing tackle by pressing the "X" button when you are near an opponent and make a sliding challenge using the "O" button.

    • 4

Hold down "R1" ("R" for PSP) to sprint in the direction you are moving. Sprinting is a key aspect of getting away from your opponent in PES 9. Bear in mind this will tire your player out quicker, so sprint sparingly.

    • 5

Press the "L1" ("L" for PSP) to switch between players.

    Xbox

    • 6

Use the analog stick on the left of your Xbox controller to move your player. The 360 degrees capabilities of the analog stick ensure maximum maneuverability from your players.

    • 7

Press the "A" button to make a short pass when your player has the ball, and press the "B" button for a long pass or a cross ball. The right analog stick also acts as a manual pass--simply flick the stick in a direction to make the pass. The "X" button is to make a shot on goal, and the "Y" button plays a through ball.

    • 8

Press "A" when on defense to make a standing tackle or block; "B" makes a sliding, more dangerous, challenge. If you are in your own territory, then "X" will make a long clearance, and "Y" makes your goalkeeper rush from goal if your team does not have the ball.

    • 9

Press the right bumper while making your player run in a direction to make the player sprint--but this will tire the player out more quickly.

    • 10

Succeed in several tournaments to enhance your game. Win the African Cup Of Nations, American Cup, Asia-Oceania Cup, and European Cup in League/Cup mode to unlock classic players.

    PC

    • 11

Press the arrow keys on your keyboard to control the direction your players run. If you combine this with the "E" key, then your player will sprint.

    • 12

Make a standing tackle when on defense by pressing the "X" key and make a more foolhardy sliding challenge by pressing the "D" key.

    • 13

Attack by pressing "A" to shoot, "B" to make a cross or a long pass, "W" to make a through pass and "X" to shoot at goal--be wary of the power bar with the latter.

    Nintendo Wii

    • 14

Use the joystick on the nunchuk to move the player you control.

    • 15

Aim the controller at the screen and press "B" to pass the ball where you are aiming.

    • 16

Move the nunchuk from side to side to shoot the ball.

    • 17

Move the controller from side to side to make a chip shot.

    • 18

Press "Z" to tackle the ball when on defense. Aim the controller at the screen and press "A" to make a sliding tackle where you are aiming.
