How to Reboot the PS3 OS Without a Keyboard

Many gamers find it easier to use a keyboard when maneuvering around in the PS3 operating system. However, a keyboard isn't necessary to perform a system reboot. You can also do this by using the PS3's remote control, or its hand controller to access the operating systems console recovery menu. It's important to note that rebooting the console is different than simply powering down the console and starting it back up again. By rebooting, you are resetting the entire system.

     Hold down the power button on the console to turn it off.

     Hold the power button and allow the console to power up and then power down.

     Hold the power button again until you hear two beeps.

     Connect your controller to the console with the usb cable when asked to do so.

     Turn on the controller.

     Choose option 1 in the recovery menu. This option states "Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION®3 System". Your PS3 will now be rebooted.
