For Dirty Games
Put another game in the PlayStation 3 to see whether it is the game or the system that needs cleaning. If another game besides the one you're having trouble with loads, move on to Step 2, since this obviously means the disc that won't load is dirty. If not, move on to Section 2 for information on cleaning a dirty laser.
Spray the microfiber cloth with a light amount of cleaning solution, which can be purchased from any electronics retailer.
Wipe the disc down gently in circular motions to alleviate any dirt, dust or fingerprints and keep wiping until it is dry. When finished, try the game again. If it still does not load, the game may be irreparably damaged, which can be caused by scratches or chips, or the PlayStation 3's laser may also be dirty.
For a Dirty PS3 Laser
Open your PS3's disc tray and spray the inside of the machine with some compressed air, which comes either in a can or in a squeeze ball. This air will help remove any larger particles of dust or dirt that may have accumulated on the machine's lens.
Insert the cleaning CD into the disc tray and close it. These CDs often have no data on them and instead have a small brush along the bottom that cleans the laser as it spins over it.
Follow any on-screen instructions or paper instructions that may have been included with your lens-cleaning CD until the laser has been successfully cleaned, and then remove the CD.
Check to see whether the machine will load games or DVDs properly. If it still doesn't, you may have an internal hardware issue that requires sending your machine to Sony for professional repairs.
