How to Make Friends on PS3

Making friends on the PS3 allows you to meet other people interested in the same games as you. PS3 friends can share tips and strategies, form teams and push one another to become better at a game. You can even find enough talented players to put together a team to compete at major tournaments. You can make friends through the games you play on the PlayStation Network, and you can also find friends in places that aren't directly related to the PlayStation Network.

Instructions

    • 1

Talk to others on your microphone. Be respectful, helpful and contribute to making a positive experience for everyone involved in the game.

    • 2

Master a game. People always want to be friends with the best players. If you're clearly better than most of the people you play against, you can expect friend requests.

    • 3

Compliment other players. In his book, "How to Win Friends and Influence People," Dale Carnegie said, "Give honest, sincere appreciation." This applies to making friends on the PlayStation Network as well. If someone gets the best of you in a game, send a compliment. You'll usually receive a "Thank You" message followed by a friend request.

    • 4

Send friend requests to people you've played games with. You don't need a good reason to send a friend request, and few people turn them down. If you think someone is a good player, or on the same skill level as you, send a request.

    • 5

Find forums for games you'd like to play with other people, get to know those who frequent the forums and ask for gamer tags.

    • 6

Ask people you know from school, work or social networks. Mention that you own a PlayStation 3 to people, and if they have one too, they'll usually ask for your ID.
