Verify That You Have an Internet Connection
Power cycle your PlayStation 3 console. If you have auto-start enabled, make sure there are no discs in the drive.
Wait to see if PlayStation Network will sign in. If it fails, navigate to the "Settings" tab.
Navigate down to "Network Settings" and press "X." Then, press "X" on "Internet Connection Test."
Wait for the connection test to finish. If you have an Internet connection, but PSN is still not responding, skip to Section 2. If you have no Internet connection, press "X" on "Internet Connection Settings" and use the wizard to re-enter your wireless modem information to verify that it is correct.
Move the PlayStation 3 console closer to the wireless router. If there is still an issue, it may be a signal issue.
Ensure It Isn't a Port Issue
Move your PlayStation 3 console closer to the wireless router. Having a signal strength that is too low may cause a connection to the PlayStation Network to time out.
Use your wireless router's program to open these ports that the PSN uses:
TCP: 80, 433, 5223
Press "X" on "Internet Connection Test," or under "PlayStation Network" press "X" on "Sign In" to see if opening the ports has resolved the issue.
Wire the connection from your router to the PlayStation 3.
