HDMI connection
Turn off the PS3. Disconnect any previous video connection (such as the standard AV connection). Turn off the TV.
Connect one end of the HDMI cable into the "HDMI" slot on the back of the PS3. Connect the opposite end of the HDMI cable into the "HDMI" slot on your television (usually on the side or in the back).
Turn on the TV. Set the TV to its "HDMI" video mode. Turn on the PS3. After a few seconds, you will see the PS3 logo appear, indicating the connection was successful. When asked if you'd like to switch to HDMI, use the PS3 controller to select "Yes." When asked if you want to switch to the most optimal setting for your TV, select "Yes." When asked to accept the settings, select "Yes."
Component connection
Turn off the PS3. Disconnect any previous video connection (such as the standard AV connection). Turn off the TV.
Connect the square end of the PS3 component cable into the "AVI Multi Out" port on the back of the PS3. The component cable separates the video cables from the audio cables. The video cables are green, blue and red. The audio cables are white and red. Insert the green, blue and red video cables into the "green," "blue" and "red" component inputs on the HDTV. Insert the white and red audio cables into the "white" and "red" AV inputs on the HDTV.
Turn on the TV. Set the TV to its "Component" video mode. Turn on the PS3. After a few seconds, you will see the PS3 logo appear, indicating the connection was successful.
