One of the main features of Sony's PlayStation 3 (PS3) is its Blu-ray support. Blu-ray is a media format that can hold up to three times the content of a single, dual-layered DVD (making it ideal for 3-D games and high-resolution video). The official PS3 Blu-ray remote is similar to a DVD remote, and like other wireless PS3 devices, must be synced (or "paired" in PS3 lingo) to the PS3 before it becomes operational.

Turn on the PS3. From the XMB menu bar, scroll to the "Settings" tab.

Select "Accessory Settings."

Select "Register BD Remote Control." When prompted, press the "Start" and "Enter" buttons on the Blu-ray remote at the same time. The Blu-ray remote will pair with the PS3, at which point you will be prompted to follow the instructions on screen to complete the setup.
