How to Connect Your PS3 to Wireless

The Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3) comes with a built-in Wi-Fi adapter that can be used to connect to the PlayStation Network. The PlayStation Network grants access to a flash-compatible web browser, game demos, Netflix and downloadable content for games the user has purchased. You will need information pertinent to connecting to your wireless network, such as a password. After the connection is set up, the PS3 will automatically connect to the wireless network.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on the PS3. From the PS3 main menu, scroll to the "Settings" section. Select "Network Settings."

    • 2

Scroll to "Internet Connection" and select "Enabled." Select "Internet Connection Settings." You will be warned that your system, if connected to a previous connection, will be disconnected. Select "Yes" to bypass the warning.

    • 3

Select "Easy" as the setup method. Select "Wireless" as the connection type. Select "Scan" to begin searching for wireless networks. Select the wireless network to which you want to connect. Press the "right" button on the directional pad to continue. If the wireless network has security, enter the password. If not, select "None" to continue.

    • 4

Examine the network information displayed on screen to verify it is correct. Press the "X" button on the controller to save the information (the PS3 will use it when connecting to the network in the future).

    • 5

Select "Test Connection." The PS3 will attempt to connect to the wireless network. If the test is unsuccessful, the reason and most common solution will be displayed on screen.
