How to Transfer My Movies & Music to My PS3

The Sony PlayStation 3 is designed to be the center of your home entertainment system. That is why it includes a Blu-ray player, hard drive and media player capabilities in addition to video gaming capability. You can use your PS3 to play movies and music in supported video and audio formats just like a computer. You can even use your PS3 to store your media for easy access.

Instructions

  Connect an external hard drive to your computer via a USB cable.

  Open the folder or folders that contain the movies and music that you want to transfer to your PS3. Generally, these files will be stored in the "My Music" and "My Videos" folders within the "My Documents" folder on your computer, but you may have files stored elsewhere.

  Select the files that you want to transfer by left-clicking them once, then right-click them and select ̶0;Copy̶1; from the list of options. If you want to select multiple files, you can left-click and drag your cursor to select more than one file at a time.

  Open the external hard drive from ̶0;My Computer,̶1; which will be listed under the "Devices with Removeable Storage" heading. Right-click in an empty folder and select the ̶0;Paste̶1; option.

  Remove the hard drive from your computer and connect it to an open USB port on your PS3.

  Navigate to the "Videos" tab on your PS3 and scroll down and highlight your hard drive. Press "Triangle" and select "Display All" to display all of the videos stored on your hard drive.

  Select the media that you want to transfer, press ̶0;Triangle̶1; on your PS3 controller and choose ̶0;Copy̶1; to copy the data to your PS3. You files will be transferred to your PS3̵7;s hard drive and you will be able to play them from your PS3.

  Navigate to the "Music" tab on your PS3, press "Triangle" while highlighting your hard drive and select "Display All. Repeat step 7 to transfer your music.
