The PlayStation 3 (PS3) comes with a hard drive for storing game data and other content. The size of the hard drive varies depending on the model of the PS3. You can quickly erase all of the content on the PS3 hard drive by formatting it. Formatting will also erase all console settings and user configurations. This process is irreversible.

Turn on the PS3.

Scroll to the "Settings" menu. Select "System Settings".

Select "Format Hard Disk". When asked to confirm, select "Yes".
