How to Clone a PS3 Hard Drive

Cloning a hard drive is one way to make a backup of the hard drive. This takes all the information on the hard drive and makes an exact duplicate of the drive. The PlayStation 3 has its own cloning system to help perform backups of the files on the PlayStation 3's internal hard drive. In order to perform this operation, you need to have either an external hard drive or USB flash drive.

     Insert your removable media in the PlayStation 3's USB port.

     Turn on the PlayStation 3.

     Go to "Settings."

     Select "System Settings."

     Choose "Backup Utility."

     Select "Backup."

     Pick your removable drive and select "OK" to start the cloning process.
