How to Save Metal Gear Solid on PS3

Certain models of PlayStation 3 have the ability to play PlayStation 1 and 2 games. These models are the 2007 80GB, the 60 GB and the 20GB. While playing these games is possible, older memory cards are not compatible with the PlayStation 3. To save your game while playing older titles, such as "Metal Gear Solid," on a backwards-compatible PlayStation 3, an internal memory card must first be created.

Instructions

    • 1

From the PlayStation 3 main menu, go to the "Game" menu, then "Memory Card Utility (PS/PS2)." Press the "X" button.

    • 2

Navigate to "New Internal Memory Card" and press "X."

    • 3

Select "Internal Memory Card (PS)" to create an original PlayStation memory card. Press "X" again.

    • 4

Change the name of the memory card, if desired, then highlight "OK" and press "X" when finished.

    • 5

Assign the memory card to a slot. By default, it is set to assign to slot 1. Press "X" to finish the set up.

    • 6

Insert the "Metal Gear Solid" game into the PlayStation 3. When you want to save the game, press select to enter your Codec, then highlight Mei Ling's name. Press the "Circle" button to call Mei Ling. When she asks if you would like to save, choose "yes." The game is now saved to the internal memory card.
