How to Import a CD Into a PS3

The PlayStation 3 (PS3) is essentially a powerful computer. Aside from playing games, you can also listen to music, watch videos or view photos on it. Importing your own music, videos and photos onto the hard drive of the PS3 offers the convenience of having all of your media easily accessible from your television. Importing a CD on the PS3 is simple and quick. With a touch of few buttons, all your media can be stored directly on the PS3's hard drive.

  Insert a CD into the PS3. The PS3 is able to import audio files (such as a music CD), video files (such as a movie you have downloaded) or image files (such as photos of your family vacation).

  Select the type of media you want to import. Use the left/right arrow keys on the PS3 controller to select either music, video or photos. Once you have selected the type of media on the CD, a vertical list of options will become available.

  Select the CD you want to import from. Using the down/up arrow keys on the PS3 controller, select the CD you inserted. The icon will either be titled "Data Disc" or "Audio CD."

  Press the green triangle button on the PlayStation 3 controller to bring up options for the selected disc. If you are importing an audio CD, select "Import" using the "X" button on the PS3 controller. If you are importing video or photo files, select "Copy," again using the "X" button on the controller. A status bar will appear, showing the progress of the import.

  Press "OK" when the import or copy is complete. The files you have imported will be available under their respected media type. Videos can be found in the video section, audio in the music section and photos under the photo section. The file names will be exactly as titled on the CD.
