How to Switch PS3 Video to Standard AV Without an HDTV

The Sony PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system is capable of high-definition video up to 1080p using an HDMI cable. Likewise, you can also connect your PlayStation 3 console to a standard-definition television using the included audio-video cables. When you connect your PlayStation 3 to a standard-definition television after it's been set up for a high-definition television, you may need to reset the console's video settings so a picture will appear.

  Remove any S-Video, HDMI or Component video cables connected to the console.

  Connect the PlayStation 3 to the standard-definition TV using the audio-video cables. When connecting the cables to the TV, make sure to match the red, white and yellow plugs to their respectively colored inputs.

  Power on the TV and press the "Source" or "Input" button so it's on the audio-video channel.

  Switch on the PlayStation 3 and hold the power button on the front of the console for five seconds or until the console beeps two times. Your console will automatically adjust to the factory settings or recognize your current connection.
