How to Watch Online Movies on a PS3

Sony's online PlayStation Store service allows PlayStation 3 owners to log on to the Internet and download movies, video games and other media. The PlayStation Store's "Video" section contains a wide array of movies and television shows that PS3 owners can purchase. The service allows owners to watch a wide variety of movies on demand from the comfort of their homes. The service is simple to use and does not require any subscription to activate.

Instructions

  Select the "PlayStation Store" icon from the PS3 media bar menu. Select the "Video" icon on the upper-left corner of the PlayStation Store screen.

  Browse the selection of movies and television shows using the tabs on the left side of the screen. Select a movie you wish to view.

  Choose whether you wish to view a high-definition version of the movie or a standard-definition version by selecting either "HD" or "SD," respectively. Select either the "Rent" or "Own" option. Renting a movie gives you 14 days to begin watching it; once you have started to watch the movie, you have 24 hours to watch it as often as you like. Choosing the "Own" option will give you unlimited access to the movie.

  Select "Buy Now" or "Rent Now" on the next screen, depending on what option you chose on the previous screen. Select "Confirm Purchase" on the confirmation screen.

  Select "Download" on the next screen. The movie will download to your PS3's hard drive. Highlight the "Video" section of the PS3 media bar and select your movie to begin viewing it.
