PS3 Power Save Function

The power save function on the Playstation 3 is a useful setting that will reduce power usage by the PS3 console.

  1. Function

    • The Power Save Setting is found in the Playsation 3 cross-media bar under "Settings." When activated, the Power Save Function allows for the PS3 console as well as PS3 wireless controllers to automatically turn off when not in use.

    System Options

    • The System Auto-Off option is set to "Off" or "On." If this option is set to "Off," the PS3 console will not turn off automatically. If set to "On," the PS3 console will automatically turn off after 1, 2, 3 or 5 hours of inactivity. The PS3 console will not automatically turn off during video playback, slideshows or during game play unless the "Turn Off System Automatically Even Under Special Conditions" option is selected after enabling the System Auto-Off option.

    Controller Options

    • The Controller Auto-Off option is set to "Off" or "On." If this option is set to "Off," the PS3 wireless controller will not turn off automatically. If set to "On," the wireless controller will automatically turn off after a period of inactivity.
