How Do I Transfer PS2 Memory Data to My PS3?

Backwards compatible PlayStation 3 systems were not built with an older PlayStation memory card slot. This usually means that old game saves cannot be used and the player has to start the game from scratch. With the PlayStation 3 memory card adaptor, however, save data can be transferred from a memory card to the console.
