How to Increase the Internet Speed for the PS3

Part of the fun of having a PS3 is being able to be online and play with your friends and other people all around the world. If your Internet connection doesn̵7;t seem to be as fast as you̵7;d like it to be, there are several ways that you can boost the Internet speed when you use your PS3. A faster Internet speed means more gaming and more fun for you and your PS3.

  Update the firmware for both your PS3 and the modem. You can get updates to the PS3 firmware at the PS3 site listed in the references section. You̵7;ll need to upgrade your modem̵7;s firmware through your Internet service provider. Both of these upgrades will create a faster Internet connection.

  Switch from a wireless connection to a wired connection, even if you have a wireless modem or router. You can still plug an Ethernet cord from the modem or router to your PS3. Sometimes, a wired connection will actually be faster because there is less interference.

  Shut down any computers that you aren̵7;t using while you play your PS3. If you have broadband or another type of wired or wireless connection, you have a certain amount of bandwidth that is available. Each computer that is connected will use up bandwidth, and your PS3 might not have enough to operate quickly and smoothly.
