Things You'll Need
Instructions
Turn off the PlayStation 3 console. Plug the AV cable into the back of the PlayStation 3 console. An AV cable was included with your PlayStation 3 and features white, red and yellow connectors. The square cable connector end plugs into the back of the PlayStation 3 console.
Plug the white, red and yellow cable connectors into the color-coded audio and video "In" ports on your standard-definition television. The white and red connectors are for audio connection, while the yellow connector is used for video.
Power on your PlayStation 3 by holding the power button for at least 5 seconds. The system will beep twice when the process is correctly completed. This will cause the PlayStation 3 to reset video output settings on the console back to standard definition. If your PlayStation 3 was previously set to output in high definition, then the system will not display on the television until this output reset process is complete.
Tune your television to the correct channel to display a signal coming through the television's "Video In" port. Refer to your television owner's manual for specific instructions. Often, pressing the "Video" or "Input" button on your TV remote will serve to tune in the correct channel. You have successfully tuned to the right channel once you see the PlayStation 3 main menu.
