How to Remove Parental Control on PS3

Parents concerned about what their kids are up to when gaming should be aware of the parental controls available on their PlayStation 3 console. These settings allow players to access only content that's been approved by their parent's control settings. However, if you've set them and want to take them off, you need to change the settings if you're going to remove the restrictions currently set on the console.

Instructions

    • 1

Power on the PlayStation console and log in to the main account. The main account should have access to all of the settings and is most likely the first account you started when you powered on the console initially. You may only have one main account set up on the console.

    • 2

Navigate to the "Settings" section of the PlayStation home menu, then select "Security settings."

    • 3

Scroll to the "Parental control settings" and press "X" to select them. You will be prompted for the password. If you haven't previously set one, it will be 0000.

    • 4

Select the appropriate setting, anywhere from "1" to "Off." Select "OK" and press X to set the parental control settings to Off.

    • 5

Make any other setting changes you want to in this area. You can also change the parental controls for DVDs and BluRay movies. When finished, back out to the main PS3 menu.
