How to Play PS2 Games on a New PS3

As of 2010, Sony does not produce new PlayStation 3 consoles that support backward compatibility. The discontinued 20GB, 60GB and 80GB models are the only consoles that currently support the play of PlayStation 2 games. These three compatible models allow users to create an internal memory card that is necessary to save these older-format games. Creating an internal memory card is simple and requires a few short steps to accomplish.

Things You'll Need

  • PlayStation 3 with a model number of CECHE01, CECHA01 or CECHB01
