Automatic Mode (PS3 Headsets)
Turn on the PS3. Wait for the PS3 menu (the XMB bar) to load.
Insert one end of the USB connector into the USB port on the front of the PS3 and insert the opposite end into the PS3 headset. The indicator lights on the headset will flash. Once they stabilize, this indicates that the PS3 headset has been synced, meaning you can disconnect the USB connector and use the headset wirelessly.
Press the "Left" button on the PS3 controller to scroll to the "Settings" menu. The X button is always used to select items or navigate menus on the XMB bar. Select "Accessory Settings." Select "Audio Device Settings."
Select "Input Device." Select the "Wireless Headset" from the list of input devices. Your wireless headset is now operational.
Bluetooth Discovery Mode (Bluetooth Headsets)
Turn on the PS3. Wait for the PS3 menu (the XMB bar) to load.
Turn on your Bluetooth headset. Hold the "Power/On" button until indicators begin flashing red and green. This will place the headset into Bluetooth Discovery Mode, allowing it to be synced to the PS3.
Press the "Left" button on the PS3 controller to scroll to the "Settings" menu. Select "Accessory Settings." Select "Manage Bluetooth Devices."
Select "Yes" when prompted to pair a Bluetooth headset to the PS3. Select "Start Scanning." The PS3 will begin scanning for nearby Bluetooth headsets. Select "Wireless Headset." Use the on-screen keyboard to enter "0000" (numbers) as the pass key.
Press the "O" button on the PS3 controller until you're back on the "Accessory Settings" menu. Select "Audio Device Settings." Select "Input Device." Select the "Wireless Headset" from the list of input devices. Your Bluetooth headset is now operational.
