How to Switch Optical to Bitstream on PS3

The PlayStation 3 can output audio to a TV or home stereo system via composite, HDMI or digital optical cables. If you're using a digital optical cable with your PS3, you have the option of using either bitstream audio or linear PCM when playing Blu-ray or DVD movies. Bitstream audio lets you transmit audio encoded in high-quality Dolby Digital surround sound from your PS3.
