How to Connect a PS3 to a Desktop Instead of a TV

The next generation video game system PlayStation 3 hooks up to high-definition televisions through an HDMI audio/video cable. However, if you have such a cable connection on your desktop computer, it is possible to directly hook up the PS3 to the computer. This allows you to perform all of your computing and video game needs in a single location.

  Check your computer for an HDMI input connection. This is slightly smaller than an inch long and is similar to a USB port in design. If you are not sure about the cable connection, see your computer's user manual.

  Insert the HDMI cable into the HDMI port of the PS3, located on the rear of the gaming device.

  Connect the opposite end of the cable into one of the HDMI ports on your desktop computer.

  Power on the Sony PlayStation 3, then launch Windows Media Player. Once the program loads, select the "TV" option and click the "HDMI" connection. The PS3 video and audio information now appears on the desktop screen.
