How to Format an SD Card for a PS3

If you're running out of space on your PlayStation 3's internal hard drive, you can add to its storage by using an SD memory card. The SD card has to be properly formatted for the PS3. Some SD cards come pre-formatted from the manufacturer; but for those that don't, the PS3 has a formatting utility you can use.

Instructions

      Insert the SD card into the PS3. The SD card slot is to the left of the disc-loading slot, underneath a black plastic cover that lifts up.

      Go to the "Settings" column of the PS3 main menu. Select "Format Utility."

      Select the SD card you're formatting from the list that comes up. Choose either "Quick Format" or "Full Format."

      Confirm that you want to format the card by selecting "Yes" from the following menu.
