How to Convert a Playstation Controller to USB

Many games released for PC were originally developed with home consoles in mind and play better with a USB gamepad than keyboard and mouse. If you want to use your PlayStation controller on your computer or other USB device, you can convert it to USB using a simple adapter.

PlayStation 1 or 2 controller
PlayStation controller to USB adapter

  Plug the PlayStation controller into a controller port on the adapter. The controller port is wide and flat, with two rounded corners on the bottom. PlayStation 1 and 2 controllers use the same type of connector.

  Plug the USB cable from the adapter into a USB port.

  Install the adapter drivers if necessary. Most USB adapters work automatically on Windows, Macintosh and Linux computers. If your computer does need drivers, they should be on a disc shipped with the adapter. Insert the disc into your computer and click the "Install" button in the windows that comes up.
