Instructions
Go to the official Sony PS3 update website in the resource section of this guide and click "Download Now" to download the most recent PS3 update. Select your "Desktop" as the place you want to save the update file to.
Connect your PSP to your computer with the USB cable and select "USB Connection" from the PSP main menu. A window will appear on the computer and you will see the files and folders of the PSP memory stick. When you first open the PSP memory stick, you will be in what is called the "Root" of the memory stick.
Right-click any empty space on the PSP memory stick root and click "New" and "Folder." A new folder will be created on the root. Name the folder "PS3" and open the folder. Create a new folder inside the "PS3" folder and name it "UPDATE." Make sure the names of the folders are always in all capital letters.
Right-click the PS3 update file on your desktop and click "Copy." Go into the "UPDATE" folder on your PSP memory stick and hold down the "Ctrl" button on your keyboard. Press the "V" key on the keyboard to paste the update file into the PSP memory stick. Disconnect the PSP from your computer by pressing the "O" button on the PSP gamepad.
Connect your PSP to your PS3 with the USB cable and select "USB Connection" from the main menu on the PSP. Select "System Settings" from the PS3 menu and "System Update." Select "Update via Storage Media" and the PS3 will search your PSP for the update file. Press the "X" button to install the update.
Wait as the update is installed onto your PS3. Your PS3 will reboot a few times during the update process. When you are greeted with your PS3 logon, the process will be complete.
