How to Restore a PS3 System

If you're constantly having issues with your PS3, the only solution may be a full system restore. In returning the PS3 to its factory default settings, you will wipe out any information saved on the hard drive.

Instructions

      Start the system and one controller.

      Select “Settings.”

    • 3

      Open “System Settings.”

    • 4

      Choose “Restore PS3 System.”

    • 5

      Click “Yes” to confirm that you want to restore the system.

    • 6

      Choose “Full Format” to erase all data on the hard drive.

    • 7

      Click “Yes” to confirm that you want to do a full format. This may take several hours.

    • 8

      Press “X” on the controller when prompted to restart the system.
