How to Hook Up a Bluetooth Earpiece for a PS3

The PlayStation 3 allows wireless earpieces to connect to the system using Bluetooth technology. A user can set up the Bluetooth earpiece so that he can talk and hear other people online while playing games. This allows the user to expand on her gaming experience and interact with similar users. While there are many brands of earpieces a user can purchase, the general setup instructions are the same for each.

Automatic Method

  Turn on your PlayStation 3.

  Connect the Bluetooth earpiece to the PlayStation 3 using a USB cable. This cable will generally come with the Bluetooth headset and is usually the mini-B connector.

  Check the Bluetooth earpiece; a light on it should blink then turn a solid color to show that the two devices have paired.

  Disconnect the USB cable from the earpiece and the PlayStation 3. The earpiece is now ready for use with your PlayStation 3.
Discovery Method

  Turn on the PlayStation 3.

  Put the earpiece into discovery mode. This usually involves pressing the "Power" button or a "Connect" button.

  Go to "Settings," then "Accessory Settings," and then "Manage Bluetooth Devices" on the PlayStation 3 menu.

  Select "Yes" and then select "Start Scanning." The PlayStation 3 will start scanning for any Bluetooth devices in discovery mode.

  Select the earpiece from the list of discovered Bluetooth devices. You will then be prompted to enter the pass-code. Most earpieces use the code "0000," if this code does not work, check the instructions for your specific earpiece to find the pass-code. The earpiece is now ready to use.
