Download DVD ripping software such as DVD Decrypter or Magic and download a video transcoder such as Handbrake.
Launch the video conversion software and insert a DVD into your computer&'s DVD drive. If asked to choose a DVD region such as NTSC (United States) or PAL (Europe), select the appropriate region and click "OK."
Rip the DVD to your computer&'s hard drive. Ripping means to copy a video or audio content from a disc to your computer. To rip your DVD correctly, change the video converter&'s file-splitting settings. DVD Decrypter has a section entitled "IFO Mode." In IFO Mode, find "File Splitting" and choose "None." Click "OK" to save changes.
In the converter program, find the DVD you wanted to rip to your computer. From your video converter, find a section entitled "IFO". Find the tab entitled "Input" in the "IFO" section to browse and choose the DVD you want to rip.
Click the tab entitled "Stream Processing." Check the box entitled "Enable Stream Processing." Audio stream options include speaker settings such as 2Ch (2 channel), 6Ch and 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound. Video stream options include screen ratios such as 4:3 (TV) and 16:9 (HDTV). It is best to choose an audio and video stream that is compatible with your computer. If you have a 2Ch speaker and you choose 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound, you will be unable to use 5.1 channels.
Choose the audio and video stream you desire and click "Rip". This enables you to put your DVD on your computer as a .vob file.
Convert the .vob file into an MP4 using the video transcoder. Start by launching the video transcoder software. Every DVD ripping software program you use will have three sections available such as "Source," "Output Settings" and "Destination." From the "Source" section, click "Browse" to choose the .vob file that was ripped to your computer.
Name the file you&'ll be transcoding. Under "Destination," type in your desired name for your MP4 file.
Configure your output settings. Select "PS3" as an output setting. Click "Start" to convert the .vob to an MP4.
Use a portable storage device to transfer your MP4 file from your computer to your PS3. This enables you to watch your DVD on your PlayStation 3 anytime you want without loading the disc.
