How to Upscale DVDs on the PS3

Your PlayStation 3 is capable of playing video in true high definition, but the DVDs in your movie collection are all lower resolution. However, the PS3 is capable of increasing the resolution of DVDs it&'s playing. This is called DVD upscaling, and it&'s a default feature on every PS3 on the market.

Instructions

      Select "Video Settings" from under the "Settings" tab of the PS3&'s main menu.

      Select the "BD/DVD Upscaler" option from the list that comes up.

      Select one of the three upscaling options. "Double Scale" will double the horizontal and vertical dimensions of the picture without stretching it. This option can be used only on TVs that can display 1080i or 1080p video. "Normal" will upscale the DVD video to match the resolution of the screen you are using. It will stretch the video until its width matches the width of the screen, with a proportional vertical stretch so the image doesn&'t look distorted. "Full Screen" will stretch the video vertically and horizontally until it fills the entire screen. This option will distort the image proportions on most video formats.
