How to Find Friends on a PS3

The PlayStation 3 is a gaming console that allows users to connect and play with other users all over the world in the PlayStation Network. The PlayStation Network allows users to participate in online gaming not only strangers but with friends as well. To help you game with your friends, the PlayStation Network will alert you when one of your friends is playing PS3 online. You can add old friends or make new friends in the PlayStation Network.

Instructions

  1. Find Old Friends

      Power on your PS3 and TV set.

      Navigate to the "Friends" icon on the home menu with the PS3 controller. Select "Friends" to access the Friends menu.

      Scroll to "Add a Friend" in the Friends menu. An empty field will appear that you can use to enter your message to send to a friend.

      Enter the online ID of your friend in the "To" field.

      Navigate to the message field below. Enter a message of your choice. Then select "Send" to send the friend request. Once the friend accepts the friend request, you will be notified whenever they are online with their PS3, and you will be able to send them messages and chat with them through the PlayStation Network.

    Add New Friends

      Scroll to the "Friends" icon in the home menu.

      Select the "Players Met" icon from the Friends menu. All players you have played with in the past will be listed.

      Scroll through the avatars of players whom you have played with in the past. Select an avatar that represents a player you would like to add as a friend.

      Select the "Add as a Friend" option.

      Enter in a custom message. The "To" field already contains the player's online ID. Press "Send" to send the friend request.
