Transferring Data
Power on your PlayStation 3 by pressing the center button on the PS3 controller.
Insert the CD or DVD into the disc drive or the flash memory device into its proper port on the front of your PlayStation 3 console. All PS3 consoles have at least two USB inputs on the front-left side of the console (bottom-right if the console is standing vertically). PlayStation 3 models CECHA01 and CECHE01 have built-in card readers located under the plastic door to the left of the disc slot. Lift the door to view the ports and push the card into the slot until it clicks into place. USB flash card adapters work on all PlayStation 3 consoles, even those lacking certain flash memory ports.
Navigate left or right using the controller to the category that matches the type of files you are transferring to your PS3. For instance, if you're transferring photos, highlight the "Photo" column. When choosing the "Game" column, you must select "Saved Data Utility" or "Memory Card Utility" to view the CD, DVD or memory device icon.
Select the CD, DVD or memory device by pressing up or down on the controller to highlight its icon and press the "X" button. You can also press "Triangle" on the controller and select the "Display All" option.
Navigate the contents of the device using the directional pad on the controller, "X" to confirm choices and "Circle" to go back or cancel.
Highlight the data you want transferred to your PS3's hard drive, press "Triangle" and select the "Copy" option. File formats must match the selected category to be copied to the console.
