How to Use a PS2 Multitap on a PS3

When Sony released the Playstation 3, it switched to wireless controllers, leaving no ports for older Sony controllers and multitaps. But there is a way you can use your old PS2 multitap on the PS3, if you're willing to spend a few dollars. Third-party hardware manufacturers have released converters that will allow you to plug in your old PS2 multitap.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug your multitap into the PS2 controller slot of the adapter. The PS2 controller slot on the adapter will be a female port, considerably larger than the USB connector (pictured).

    • 2

Plug the USB connector into a USB port on your PS3. The USB ports are located on the front of your PS3, below the disc slot and power button. Old models of PS3 have four USB ports, while newer models have two.

Turn on your PS3. The PS3 should automatically detect the multitap, and any controllers plugged into the multitap. Insert your favorite game and start playing.
