How to Rip DVDs to a PS3

The Playstation 3 is a gaming console that offers much more than just gaming. Through the Playstation Network, users are able to download game demos, HD movies and even whole games. But if you have a video that you would like to transfer over to the PS3 hard drive, you might think this is a daunting task that involves lots of software or cables. The fact is that this process can be done very easily.

      Open your DVD ripping software by double-clicking on the icon. Open your computer's DVD drive and insert the DVD you want to rip. Close the DVD drive and wait for the ripping software to recognize the DVD.

      Click on the "Video Format" tab of your DVD ripping software and click on the ".AVI" or "MP4" file formats. This format is compatible with the PS3. Click on the "Rip" or "Start" button on your ripping software.

      Locate the DVD file that you would like to transfer to your PS3.

      Plug in your flash drive to your computer. Click on the "Start" menu and then click on the "My Computer" icon.

      Double-click on your flash drive's icon to open the flash drive window. Drag your video file onto the flash drive.

      Click the "Back" button on the flash drive window and right-click on your flash drive's icon. Select "Eject" from the choices given and wait for the flash drive to be ejected from the system.

      Unplug your flash drive from your computer and plug it into an available port on your PS3. Turn on your PS3 by pressing the power button on the front of the console.

      Scroll through the menu bar on the PS3 until you come to the "Video" icon. Scroll down until you come to your flash drive. Click on the flash drive icon with the "Triangle" button and select "Display Items" from the menu.

      Locate the file you want to rip and then click on it with the "Triangle" button. Select "Copy" from the choices given and wait for the file to be transferred into your PS3 hard drive.
